Magellan Explorist

Postby tsmart346 » Fri Aug 24, 2007 3:12 am

I am considering the Magellan Explorist XL vs the Garmin60CX . I am new to this product. I intend to use this for Geocaching and driving directions. I like the large screen on the Magellan, but I am not sure what extras I would need for the above listed use. Thanks for any thoughts. Tom Smart

You will not REQUIRE any additional equipment/maps to do geocaching. But you MIGHT want to have either detailed roadmaps or topo maps for your unit depending on your interests.

Routing in the Magellan handhelds is dependant on DirectRoute software, so for driving instructions you would need that product. The street level maps appear to be about the same as with the Garmin products. I have not yet had the opportunity to use the 60CSx.
