GPS SERVICE

Is there a "service fee" to use a GPS? Because I was thinking of buying a gps navigation system for my car, but I wasn't sure if I need to pay for it every month or not. So do I pay every month for it (service fee), or do I just pay once for the gps and no service fee??

Recommendations for Bluetooth GPS please

I am currently running tomtom 5 Nav on an Ipaq 4150. I would like to buy a bluetooth GPS and use this rather than my current hardwired set up (with Garmin Etrex).

This is all new territory for me. I've seen various units on eBay but haven't a clue what I should be looking for. For example is a 32 channel unit worth it? I've seen the blurb refer to Fujitsu Japanese chipset and SIRF ...

My family wants to see where I'm going.

I shall shortly be treking around Kathmandu for a few weeks. Could somebody please explain if it is possible for family and freinds etc., to keep tabs on us by using Google Earth ? What equipment would we need to carry....in fact, how on earth would be go about setting everything up ? thanks.

Intersection geometry use in routing maneuvers

I recently contacted Garmin regarding what I perceive to be errors in maneuvers required to follow the route provided by my C550. The errors occur when approaching a fork in the road - one branch of which continues straight, while the other required you to bear left. In this case, two roads merge into one for a brief period of time, and then diverge.
