It seems as the 500 and 600 models has not yet gotten the firmware upgrade with the new navigation pages. Sigh! All other models do, but why not the 500 and 600.

Anyone with insight, got any clues or information? I sure like to get better functionality in my Explorist 500.

My unit arrived yesterday; thought I'd pass along a few observations and impressions. The main reason I bought the thing was a desire for a good color display, and I am not disappointed on that count. The display is crisp and bright with back-light on. I really would like a good unit for hiking, boating (and maybe auto use as a bonus). Are there any good compares between the Magellan and Garmin units in terms of reception, ease of use, functionality, etc.?

I've recently started walking to work, and I thought I might be able to use the explorist to determine the exact distance I'm traveling on my walks. What is fastest way to use the explorist to track distance?

I just purchased an Explorist 500 as my first GPS unit... so far I'm pretty happy with it as far as using the onboard functions, but of course I want to be able to use the PC interface... which so far seems like a total nightmare. Please, someone tell me it gets better!?

Anyhow, right now I can't even get it connected to my PC, my WINXP Pro SP2 doesn't recognize the USB device, I ...

I know we can only enter 200 geocaches in each file on the Explorist 500, but I was wondering if a work around to that limit could be by entering the caches as waypoints? Has anyone tried this and does it work? Is it more trouble than it's worth?
