Has the above ever happened to anyone? I created a route (still playing with MapSend Direct Route) from home to downtown Charleston just to see how we would be routed. As we travelled along the map background turned from white which made reading the roads and route easy to dark blue which made it difficult to read. My unit arrived yesterday; thought I'd pass along a few observations and impressions. The main reason I bought the thing was a desire for a good color display, and I am not disappointed on that count. The display is crisp and bright with back-light on. I really would like a good unit for hiking, boating (and maybe auto use as a bonus). Are there any good compares between the Magellan and Garmin units in terms of reception, ease of use, functionality, etc.?

I just purchased an Explorist 500 as my first GPS unit... so far I'm pretty happy with it as far as using the onboard functions, but of course I want to be able to use the PC interface... which so far seems like a total nightmare. Please, someone tell me it gets better!?

Anyhow, right now I can't even get it connected to my PC, my WINXP Pro SP2 doesn't recognize the USB device, I ...

I know we can only enter 200 geocaches in each file on the Explorist 500, but I was wondering if a work around to that limit could be by entering the caches as waypoints? Has anyone tried this and does it work? Is it more trouble than it's worth?

Hello everyone I am thinking about buying my first gps and I am leaning toward the explorist 210 my question is... how big or detail map would I be able to load on it with the built in memory.
