There is a disc that I presume fits to the windscreen that has a red circle on one side and black plastic on the other.

There is no mention in the manual how to use it/if this is needed at all?

Which way round does it go as the mounting arm will secure itself to either side (by a magnet possibly?)

Could I not use it and just attach the mounting arm direct to the windscreen without it falling off?

If the Red sided disk is what I suspect DO NOT ATTACH IT TO YOUR WINDSCREEN, these are intended to be used for a dashboard mount, the red bit peels off and reveals a very strong adhesive (it doesn't come off very easily at all). - My advice unless you really need this put it back in the box.

The device should be supplied with a mount that will secure to the windscreen on its own, there should be a suction cup type device attached to the end of the mounting arm - this alone is sufficiant to attach and secure the device to the screen - Mike
